Spread the Word

The word sustainable seems to be the latest buzzword for just about every industry lately. Well, we have news for you — the lighting industry is so ahead of every other industry in this area that even though we didn’t necessarily talk about it, we were already doing it.

Ever hear of the skylight? Yes, that’s right, the skylight is really one of the originals in sustainable lighting. Those of us in the professional lighting industry understand that sustainable lighting is often built within the architecture.

Another example is a strategically placed uncovered window that blends in with the professional lighting we design and create. The blending of these elements can be breathtaking as well as falling in the category of sustainable lighting.

So that everyone is on the same page, let’s define the term sustainable lighting. Wikipedia defines it as lighting designed with energy-efficient light sources. They include design strategies as well as materials used that have energy savings advantages.

Remember the fluorescent lamps? Again, this is sustainable lighting and old news to the lighting industry. Unfortunately, most people only remember those awful fluorescent strips in workshops or places of business such as department stores and government offices.

Today, the fluorescent bulbs come in warmer tones to create a more pleasant lighting atmosphere while saving energy. Plus, since they last a long time, that in itself is less waste. When you get into upscale architectural lighting (which we do at ADG Lighting), we have created and continue to create sustainable lighting and a beautiful enhancement to any home.

Although we do work on upscale celebrity homes, others use similar techniques that we use on a smaller scale to achieve enhanced results in the average home, thus making them look beautiful.

Yes, we are light years ahead of everyone else…pun intended.
