The news hit the streets like a lightning bolt. After being closed for over a year, the Getty Center is finally reopening its doors! First and foremost, there are strict guidelines because of COVID restrictions. We need to tell you that as of the writing of this blog, you must wear a mask both indoors and outdoors. This is after the CDC announced relaxing the guidelines, so make sure you wear masks. Admission to the Getty Center is free, but as of right now requires a timed-entry reservation.
You must go to the Getty Center website at Getty: Resources for Visual Art and Cultural Heritage, then scroll down to ticketing. Everything you need to know is there for your viewing pleasure. Although the admission is free, the parking is $20.
All of us at ADG Lighting are excited because you know how we feel about architecture, art, and modern design — those views are breathtaking. Both the Getty Center and The Getty Villa are now open, but they require you to go to their site and make a timed entry reservation. The Getty Center is located at 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90049. The Getty Villa is located at 17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
Current exhibits at the Getty Center include a timely and important one titled “Power, Justice, and Tyranny in the Middle Ages” which runs from May 25 – August 15, 2021. There is also an ongoing exhibit about Getty himself, titled “J. Paul Getty Life and Legacy” which, for those who are inspired by a man whose legacy continues to touch generation after generation, is a must-see.
We encourage everyone to start going to the Getty and other wonderful museums around this city or any city you happen to visit. Museums are where artists’ souls, both past and present, meet and converse in silence.
