Generally, most people don’t look at lighting as a top priority, but it is why something looks — choose an adjective — complete, warm, exactly like, stunning, or even beautiful. One of the main reasons the houses or estates you see in magazines such as Architectural Digest seem so perfect is the architectural lighting design built right in.
Architectural lighting design is something that Gerald Olesker has been doing for the past 20+ years. Mr. Olesker is considered one of the originals in this interesting facet of architecture that few think about.
Many well-known architects (we won’t mention names because we didn’t ask for clearance) have worked with this old master at his craft named Gerald Olesker. Architectural lighting design is an essential companion of the architecture practice; it is a lighting system to be built to compliment the newly constructed architecture’s environment. This can be on the interior or exterior of that environment. It can also be done when renovating an existing building.
Mr. Olesker, who also happens to be the owner and CEO of ADG Lighting, has provided spectacular architectural lighting designs for some of the most spectacular homes and brands in the world. Here are some of his more recent projects:
- Shaquille O’ Neal’s Shaquille’s Restaurant at Staples Center
- The Hollywood Palladium
- The Belasco Theater in Downtown LA
- Mark Cuban’s Dallas Design District Nightclub The HiFi
We aren’t kidding when we say that without the architectural lighting design that Mr. Olesker provides, the beautiful architecture wouldn’t stand out and shine as it does! Just look at some of his clients.
Mr. Olesker doesn’t always get mentioned in the credits of the final product, but he doesn’t let this affect his passion, for he loves what he does and considers it part of his legacy.
In layman’s terms, if a bodybuilder isn’t lit properly, their muscles won’t be as stunning. If a movie star isn’t lit properly, they won’t be as attractive. The very same goes for architecture; architectural lighting design makes everything in your living environment palatial.
Mr. Olesker is considered a pioneer because he got the concept back when he got his degree in architecture from Cal Poly, Pomona. He knew back then that architectural lighting design is an integral part of the practice. At ADG Lighting, he practices the ADG Advantage to elevate the essence of architecture through the design and fabrication of lighting and furnishing.
