The mansion in Thousand Oaks, California was sold by Gretzky to former baseball big shot Lenny Dykstra for $18.5M at the height of the housing bubble. The residence includes six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and two guest houses. A gated entry leads you to a circular driveway with a scenic backdrop of the majestic mountains. The mansion in Thousand Oaks, Calif., has had a rocky few years, beginning when Gretzky sold the home to former baseball big shot Lenny Dykstra for $18.5M at the height of the housing bubble. Dykstra—who had some truly terrible timing—attempted to flip the manse for $24.5M in 2008, but, unsurprisingly, came up short for takers. A year later, Dykstra filed for bankruptcy, realized his assets would be seized, and promptly (not to mention thoroughly) trashed the mansion: according to Curbed LA, the bank couldn’t resell without first restoring a drain line that was leaking raw sewage and picking up beer bottles, dog poop, and other trash. The home sold at auction in November 2010, and is now repaired and spruced up for a proper market sale. Through it all, the property maintained such sports-star-style amenities like a wood-burning pizza oven, promenade terraces, a tennis court, and a home gym. Another plus? Whoever snatches up the place can have neighbor Britney Spears over for supper.
