Luxury Homes – The Most Expensive Are in Bel Air

Is it really a surprise that the most expensive home on the market in the U.S. is in Bel Air? Probably not. But, with the latest entry into the market, Bel Air holds the record now for having the top 3 most expensive homes on the market.

Bel Air is a neighborhood in the Westside area of Los Angeles, in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains. The community was founded in 1923 by Alphonzo Bell. He owned farm property in Santa Fe Springs, where oil was discovered. Bell bought a large ranch with a home on what is now Bel Air Road. He subdivided and developed the property with large residential lots. He also built the Bel Air Beach Club in Santa Monica and the Bel Air Country Club. Bell’s wife chose Italian names for the streets and subsequently founded the Bel Air Garden Club in 1931.

The newest entry in the Bel Air market is a property known as Chartwell. It hits the market at a price of $350 million. Chartwell was the estate of late Univision chairman Jerrold Perenchio. It sits on more than 10 acres, with a main house that measures 25,000 square feet. The property also includes a ballroom, a wine cellar and a period-paneled dining room. Perenchio purchased the home in 1986 and had it remodeled to more closely resemble the original design of an authentic 18th-century French chateau. Afterward, he bought many of the surrounding properties, expanding the compound to nearly 13 acres of land. The exterior of the home was used in shots of the hit TV sitcom “The Beverly Hillbillies.”

Bel Air has always been a district for the super-rich. Its Mediterranean architectural style and lavishly landscaped grounds quickly became the address of choice for LA society. Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor and Alfred Hitchcock were all residents of the exclusive Bel Air.

PRESS RELEASE: LA Lighting Firm Completes Project on $30 Million Brentwood Property

ADG Lighting Collaborates on Residence on Prestigious Tigertail Road

LOS ANGELES – July 27, 2017 — Premier Los Angeles based custom lighting firm ADG Lighting has just completed work on a newly constructed estate that just hit the Los Angeles real estate market for $30 million this summer.

The contemporary European-styled home, located on the prestigious Tigertail Road in Brentwood, features custom lighting fixtures by ADG Lighting. The three-story home features a rooftop terrace, soundproofed theater, 1,500-bottle wine cellar, wine tasting, and cigar lounge, as well as an elevator, indoor-outdoor gym and 10-car auto gallery.

Newport Beach: ADG Creates Magic in Villas Fashion Island

Our magic and creativity is unsurpassed. We have a stellar reputation for not only design, but manufacturing of lighting fixtures for high-end and luxury projects. Across a broad spectrum of architectural and design projects, we are able to translate client vision into high quality fixtures that exceed all expectations.

This expansive project in Newport Beach, the prestigious Villas Fashion Island, was an opportunity to collaborate with the Irvine Company on the residences. Gerald Olesker has designed lighting for some of its monument entries, establishing lighting specs for some of its residential communities. ADG was responsible for the 50” tall modern pendant chandelier in the coordinating tower lobbies. The project began as a concept sketch using ADG’s ring chandelier as inspiration. The final project is a pendant, with four tiers of varying sizes, and extends about 6 feet wide. The resort style property is full of high-end fixtures and features, including stainless steel appliances, island kitchens, and hardwood-style flooring.

“We have worked with the Irvine Company for the last 22 years on a number of other projects,” said Gerald Olesker, founder and CEO of ADG Lighting. “We were thrilled when we found out we were collaborating with the team again.”

Last year, ADG Lighting worked closely with the Irvine Company on the remodel of the Crystal Cove sales office with Homer Oatman. Outside of Orange County, ADG Lighting is working with the Irvine Company on three more residential upper scale buildings.

With a number of residential and hospitality spaces under its belt, ADG Lighting is well known in trade circles for their premier custom lighting work on multi-family homes, spec homes, beach homes, restaurants, hotels, and landmarks worldwide. Their work on multiple lighting projects throughout Southern California and the United States. Current projects include work in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, and in major cities across Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, and Florida.
