Leading LA Lighting Firm Infuses Style of Hearst to Greystone Mansion Showcase

ADG Lighting Partners with L’Esperance Design for Titans of Business Themed 2013 Designer Showcase

LOS ANGELES – November 12, 2013 – ADG Lighting, a leading LA-based custom lighting firm, has joined creative forces with interior design company L’Esperance Design for the 2013 Designer Showcase at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.

Celebrating business titan William Randolph Hearst, the Greystone grand foyer was one of the spaces selected to honor the design taste of the media mogul. Renowned for their custom lighting work at the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, ADG Lighting selected atelier chrome fixtures and lamps that formerly sat at the Hearst estate for the showcase.1457463_644035882301375_155224688_n

“We were thrilled to work with L’Esperance Design on such an amazing and creative project,” said Gerald Olesker, Founder and CEO of ADG Lighting. “Our experience working at the Hearst Castle really inspired our thought process for the project, and we are proud to be part of the legacy being created at Greystone Mansion.”

The Greystone Mansion has been the site of countless television shows and movies such as X-Men, The Bodyguard, The Gilmore Girls, and The Social Network. The showcase celebrates design through the Titans of Business and Best of Design theme. Selected designers reinvented rooms in the spirit and taste of the chosen business titan, translating the space into works of art. Titans come from any of the following industries: Entertainment, Import/Export, Wine, New Media, Manufacturing, Banking/Finance, and Real Estate.

The ADG Eco Lighting Atelier Chrome Collection Lamps were originally designed and manufactured for our Hearst Castle Collection. These magnificent lamps stayed at Hearst Castle for almost two years in a suite designed by Barclay Butera. They are now for sale and are seeking a good home.

According to Historic New England Organization the First Period (Post-Medieval English): 1600-1700. Those projects built during the first generation of settlement by English colonists, First Period architecture owes much of its appearance to building traditions from Europe. It could be argued that houses from this period are without style; they were not designed by architects. Yet several common elements mark these structures and two distinct traditions developed (northern and southern) with corresponding similarities of form and appearance. Each of these traditions took advantage of materials at hand as well as architectural features suited to their respective climates.

In New England, colonists departed from traditional European wattle and daub (woven lattice of wooden strips covered with a material………

A Design Style unmatched by many. Virgil McDowell Craftsman, Artisan, educated is deemed by many a secret weapon in architectural styling.

According to my Good friend Virgil McDowell (project pictured above) his design approach brings careful attention to historical precedents or classical detail essential to graceful, well proportioned homes, whether in the eloquent symmetry of the Georgian facade, the Grand style of a Palladian Manner or the simplicity and restraint of a European farmhouse.

Many of these designs feature handcrafted limestone and custom ironwork. He also enjoy using older, traditional materials such as slate, antique heart-of-pine floors and unique architectural antique doors, floor tiles, and hand carved stone reliefs.

Part of Virgil’s expertise includes old world techniques of watercolor rendering similar to those taught at L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, pencil rendering, both in perspective and evaluation, and quick sketch marker techniques, which enhance the communication process. Virgil will also depict his  strong background in the classical orders, proportion systems both exterior and interior and site/garden axial planning use by traditional architects of the past.

.Details · Details · Details

Fluent in all periods, styles and vernaculars. Virgil McDowell will take great interest in the design and planning of paneled rooms and other related case goods. The design process is collaborative with each client, inspired by and responsive to their specific desires, needs, program and budget.

Architectural Detail Group, sit in our chairs with a spread of 2 pages in CA Homes

California Homes Magazine  November, December 2012 shows off several of our Architectural Detail Group classic lighting and decorative iron products.

Page 78 & 79 of California Homes shares and credits the works of Architectural Detail Group fabrication of the iron chairs with a custom bronze finish. We water jet cut the patterns in the shop to create this magnificent Rocco pattern inspired by Lafia/ Arvin Designs collaborative efforts. Monique Lafia is such a dedicated client. ADG works with her on a very personal level. CEO Gerald Olesker and Monique sketch and compliment each others talents.

Custom iron chairs and other custom iron furniture by Architectural Detail Group is fabricated in Southern California. Some designers even private label their pieces that are made by ADG Eco and place them into showrooms.

Monique Lafia is listed in the Franklin report and we are pleased to be part of the projects that Lafia/ Arvin is listed on Robb Report’s 2012 List of the Top 40 Interior Designers of the World, and listed as the highest rated Interior Design Firm in the current Franklin Report. Lafia/Arvin is continually featured in Architectural Digest, The Robb Report, Coastal Living, Florida Design Magazine, Trends Magazines, California Homes and other luxury interior design publications. Monique Lafia, CEO, has over 20 years experience, is a graduate of the UCLA Interior Design Program, and is CCIDC and NCIDQ certified/licensed.

At ADG Eco Lighting Products we  are pleased to announce that the latest published Lafia Arvin projects,  a french estate on Los Angeles Country Club in Beverly Hills, is on the cover/featured in the current December/winter issue of California Home Magazine

The decorative lanterns at the estate were designed by Architectural Detail Group. The idea was to create an authentic French entry with flanking light posts. Similar in thought the the guest house at Versailles, Gerald Olesker’s thought process was not to tag the walls with lanterns as Landry Design Group originally anticipated. The historic references that Architectural Detail Group’s lighting division brings brings to the table is incredible. this also translated to other architectural ornamentation and furnishing that ADG Eco designs and manufactures.

As a boutique manufacturer there are things that Olesker’s Team can do. Client’s will typically pay a design retainer to Architectural Detail Group to design, layout and work with the specific budgets of the projects. Whether a home, hotel or Resort or one of the world’s finest commercial establishments, the Team at ADG Eco takes care. After the Retainer of ADG Eco the TEAM manufactures the products for each project.

Budget’s can range for projects. An $80 million dollar project could sometimes spend less per square foot on light fixtures and detail than a $3 million dollar project. One of the best assets is that the design team at ADG Eco understands and controls the manufacturing process. This way the value of a client paying a retainer to ADG Eco results in well designed and fabricated fixtures.

Other well noted Beverly Hills projects are 22 homes in Beverly Park that Gerald Olesker Designed light fixtures for, Spago’s newly renovated restaurant, Private residences off Sunset Boulevard with noted architect Marc Appleton,  to manufacturing lighting for some of the exclusive showrooms in Pacific Design Center, PDC.

As a matter of fact there is one other article with William Hefner’s office in this issue that Gerald Olesker had designed the light fixture and another firm manufactured. The Lighting and ornamental talents of  Architectural Detail Group, range from Traditional to Modern fixtures from the West coast to the east cost. Fixtures are ETL both US and Canadian listed and designs by Gerald Olesker have touched over 3 billion dollars of real-estate world wide.

LED, Induction and Decorative Light Fixtures

ADG Eco custom LED Light Fixture

For those of you that read articles about sustainable or eco lighting companies, and peruse the pages of magazines like Period Homes and Traditional building, there are a few myths to dispel.  Eco does not mean screw in an LED light bulb or put in a compact fluorescent bulb. And many of the companies in “Green sections” call themselves Green but are merely selling a component of green.

Companies like Architectural Detail Group, Inc and ADG Eco Lighting embrace the process of manufacturing products and the impact those products have on the earth. ADG does not have a LEED building, or count the carbon molecules as offset. the Founders and teams at ADG do practice and strive to continually get the message across that sustainability is a mind set.  Gerald Olesker, ceo and founder, is consistently insuring that scrap is at its lowest level in the shop, while his teams also are effective at processing. Sr. Designer and factory management run by Joey Gennaro, looks at processes like water jet and laser cutting to next products and reduce waste as well as free up man power.

Efficiency with sustainability seems to be a buzz these days, but the question is were teh early settlers in the west efficient. By definition yes, but by practical means, no. ADG takes a similar mind set. What it takes to be a Green Entrepreneur is shear will-power and determination. Green Entrepreneur, Gerald Olesker looks at the goal and incredibly insures that the client’s needs will be met as well as vendors and ADG Team members.…/40147736621 embrace us here and click to like us with some of our facebook followers. quick updates in the Eco and sustainable
