Beautiful Old World Cross over home in Shady Canyon

Architect Bob White and Designer d. Kruse along with Gerald Olesker from Architectural Detail Group Lighting worked on this 75,000 square foot lot. Hom Realtors have this listed at their site. Click on photo to see details.

Located within the prestigious community of Shady Canyon, designed by the collaborative efforts of Forest Studios and Ritner Group, and constructed by Pacific Design Estates Construction, Inc., this spectacular sprawling 75,533 square foot lot captures the serene rolling hillside views of Shady Canyon. The 13,500 square foot residence, interiors designed by a renowned local designer, d. Kruse, features exquisite high-end finishes. From the motor court entrance with reclaimed French pavers to the subterranean wine cellar and tunnel connecting the residence to the pool house and home theater, no expense has been spared in this truly breathtaking estate. The gourmet kitchen is an ideal central location for family to gather

This is the second project for Gerald Olesker to design and manufacture lighting for the owner. Several of his friends have use the design services of ADG Lighting’s CEO for their homes in Manhattan Beach, Malibu and other beach side communities.

What is exciting about this particular project was the entire design team. Both the architect and designer d. Kruse worked with ADG to create a timeless, not so perfect style of lighting and decorative iron railings. The idea was if some of the pieces were made with a crude hand and have worn over time. Other fixtures and elements were made as if the owner’s home was in Italy and looking to update the old villa. This was exciting to have the entire design team and ownership embrace the crossover design aesthetic.

A beautiful pool, pool house and home theater provide hours of entertainment and includes an outdoor kitchen, with barbecue, pizza oven, dishwasher and built-in heaters.  The American Made Lanterns designed by Gerald at ADG Lighting were a great addition to the stone walls and a large version hangs over the outdoor eating area and kitchen. The surrounding vineyard produces two barrels of wine at harvest. Food with friends and family can be enjoyed anytime of year in this estate. It is welcoming and light hearted in feel, with a relaxed mountain setting. The lighting at night is extraordinary and visionary. Typically, designers may have opted for older world lanterns. These crossed over the elements of time. Being made in steel and hand worked but with modernistic cube form, they really dazzle the yard.  The iron was effectively made the same way. A simple hand wrought picket and rail cap with a patinated wash make these seem authentic and architecturally important.

Other projects by Architect Bob White completed with Architectural Detail Group’s Lighting Studio can be seen at http://foreststudio.com/laguna_beach_hillside_villa.html. After 15 years of working on projects where Bob White and Gerald Olesker typically worked through the designers, it has been a nice working relationship to a team effort.  Collaboration with Designers like Michael Smith, along with Lighting truly makes the projects more important and relevant when the architect is involved as well.

Here is what others have said about working with lighting as part of the functional detail.  “Gerald bills himself as an architect but he is truly an entrepreneur. Gerald’s work in the lighting industry has set the bar very high because his designs as well as his approaches to problem solving are so unique. He is creative, he is powerful, and he is well known in this industry. But outside of his industry, he has, potentially, even more energy. I regularly call on Gerald to bounce ideas around because I always know that he’ll provide great feedback…” Joel Block , Owner , Growth-Logic, Inc.

Also commented,  “I have known Gerald for over four years and know him to be honest, ethical and respectful of his clients and their needs. Any interaction with him is a positive one.” Jeff Kleid , Former -President , /CMM Entertainment  and part of the Newport Beach Port Street Homes.
